Ugunja Farmer to be Compensated After Killing Python in Domestic Attack
Messaged Encounter with the Python: Charles Osore, a resident of Ugunja Subcounty, had a dangerous encounter with a python that unfortunately led to the death of his domestic dog. Osore has been commended for having responsibly reported the incident immediately to the local authorities.
Government Intervention: Following Osore’s report, officials from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), including Senior Warden Grace Kariuki, visited to initiate a formal compensation process and assess the impact of this human-wildlife encounter.
Educational Outreach: The KWS officials seized the opportunity to educate the local community on the regulations surrounding wildlife conflicts, including elements of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act.
